A Leyland Beaver tractive unit chassis with air-assisted clutch and handbrake, hydraulic assistance for steering and a comprehensive braking system, including trailer brake lines, has been chosen. Portuguese Volvo Plant: Assembly of Volvo goods and passenger vehicles has now begun in a new factory in Ovar, 20 miles south of Oporto. Assembly is being carried out by the two Portuguese importers, Simrna of Lisbon and Auto-Sueco of Porto, under the name of SOMA, and the plant has a production capacity of approximately 400 units a year.
