DISCUSSIONS are taking place between the Scottish Area of the Road Haulage Association and the National Farmers' Union of Scotland over the handling of potatoes dispatched by road. In recent years, Scottish farmers have turned increasingly to road transport for sending seed potatoes south of the border, and it is hoped that the present talks will lead to greater. co-operation between growers and hauliers.

Recommendations on how best to use existing road services and the best method of loading and keeping potatoes in good condition in transit will probably be issued to all parties in the near future.
