Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN amendment is shortly to be made to the Construction and Use Regulations to permit land tractors to draw agricultural trailers without restriction as to journey and without the need for an attendant.. The conditions under which a tractor is licensed at the £2 rate will not be altered. This information has been given to the British Agricultural Contractors' Association by the Ministry of Transport.

The lime and bulk fertilizer spreading committee or B.A.C.A. has decided that the Ministry of Agriculture should be asked to agree to a 5-per-cent. increase in the rates allowed for subsidy purposes for the carriage of agricultural lime by road.

The advisability or practicability of a licensing scheme for agricultural contractors has been discussed by the general purpose committee and the matter has been deferred until its next meeting. .

B.R.S. WORKERS PLAN TO ACT

ACTION against denationalization is being planned by drivers and mates of British Road Services. It was announced at an organizing meeting of the London Area Stewards' Committee, recently, that a conference. to which all representatives of nationalized road transport workers throughout the country would be invited, is to be held in. London to-morrow to work out a programme.

The conference is not supported by the Transport and General Workers' Union. The men's unofficial leader is Mr. Sonny Read.

TROLLEYBUS FLEET SOLD

THIRTY-TWO trolleybuses owned 1 by the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Traction Co., Ltd., are to be sold to Bradford Transport Department, which is to pay £52,500 for 15 post-war vehicles. £9,000 for ten 1941 models, and £1,000 for the remaining seven. The company is to replace the trolleybuses by motorbuses, and it is hoped that the change-over will be effected early next year.

SIR R. GOULD JOINS B.E.T.

WITH a view to being appointed to the boards of the affiliated companies, Sir Robert Gould, C.B., has accepted an invitation to join the headquarters organization of the British Electric Traction Co., Ltd. He recently retired from the position of chief industrial commissioner at the Ministry of Labour.

C.D. LECTURE TOUR

A SUCCESSFUL 10-day lecture and ti. demonstration tour of Northern and Southern Ireland has been completed by the Clayton Dewandre demonstration vehicle equipped with the latest braking and heating installations. Lectures were delivered by Mr. D. H. Ballard, B.Sc., who was accompanied by Mr. A. P. Parrett.
