Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mercedes will also be showcasing a

new hybrid Sprinter van at IAA. Based on the 311 CD!, it includes an electric motor integrated into the driveline between the transmission and the clutch alongside the standard diesel engine. Energy is stored in a nickeVmetal hydride battery which is constantly recharged when on the move. The electric motor acts as a generator, using the energy produced when braking or on downhill gradients. Mercedes claims that fuel consumption is reduced by 10-50%, depending on the type of operation.

Two electric motor outputs will be available: a 30kW model that allows purely electric operation over a range of 3-4km and a 70kW model with a recharging socket and a range of 34km.
