MAround 15,000 bus services have been registered as commercial under the Government's plans to deregulate the industry. Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley denied in the Commons that this number is way below even pessimistic forecasts. Shadow Minister Bob Hughes said that in some areas the number of registrations is only 20 per cent of the number anticipated.
