Bedford and Volvo sell more coaches

• Substantial increases in registrations of new Bedford and Volvo coaches last month helped stem the decline in the market to only 1.8 per cent, according to Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures.
Forty Bedfords (March 1985: 24) and 137 Volvos (1985: 81) were registered last month, and total registrations fell only from 394 in March 1985 to 387 last month.
Registrations in the first quarter of the year are down by 23 per cent, from 862 to 670.
Leyland, helped by its business with London Buses, is still market leader for the first quarter, with 41.6 per cent (1985: 45.7 per cent), followed by Volvo with a significant increase in volume and market share to give it 25.4 per cent (1985: 14.4 per cent).
Bedford is third with 11.2 per cent (1985: 4.6 per cent), followed by Daf and MCW.
