A Highly Successful Event Organized by the Local Division of the C.M.U.A. A List of Prizewinners in all Classes.

T"pick of Liverpool's motorhaulage fleets were represented at the eighth annual motor parade held in the city on Saturday, October 1st, and organiked by the North-western Division (Liverpool area) of the Commercial Motor Users Association: As this was the last day of Civic Week; it resulted in the event receiving far more public notice than on ordinary occasions. On the parade ground there was over one mile of vehicles entered for the coinPetitions, whilst for the route parade the length was doubled.

The entry of petrol vehicles was stronger than ever, constituting about 90 per cent, of the total: An analysis of the list of entrants revealed the following details :—Steam Vehicles: Sentinel, 10; Leyland, 1; Atkinson, 1. Petrol Vehicles : Leyland, 24; ThOrnycroft, 24; Daimler, 7; Karrier, 6; Morris, (3; Ford, 6; Dennis, 5; Mendslay, 4; Albion, 3; Beau, 3; AlE.C., L Electric Vehicles: Walker, 2.

In the route parade no fewer than 259 petrol vehicles and 26 steam wagons participated. The Anglo American Oil Co., Ltd., was represented by 51 machines. The complete success of the parade, however, was marred by extra ordinarily bad weather conditions.

This year a new system of adjudication and awarding of marks was introduced, and this ensured that each vehicle received diligent attention from each of eight judges,

Sons, Ltd., held the 'Thornycroft Cup for the best fleet of three petrol vehicles of any make on parade. Mr. A. C. Bloomer informed a representative of The Commercial Motor that of the three winning -vehicles, one had a mileage record of 200,000 and each of the other two vehicles had run 150,000 miles.

• Mr. Thomas Lawrenson's 1916 Sentinel steam wagon was again adjudicated the best vehicle of this type on parade owned by a haulage contractor, and, therefore, retpined the Fairrie Cup. The Jacob "Cup, for the best petrol vehicle owned by a haulage contractor, was won by the 1915 /vlaudslay owned by S.P.D., Ltd.
