The constitution of a Ministry of Transport for New Zealand is foreshadowed by Mr. Coates, the Prime Minister, in his annual statement covering the operations of the Railway Department, in which transport development in the Dominion is exhaustively reviewed.

Mr. Coates points out that the recent changes in the methods of the department have not been successful in attracting an adequate proportion of the increased business created by the country's general expansion. Motor competition is considered to he the most serious factor, and this is emphasized by the fact that the number of commercial vehicles in use has increased in two years from 13,000 to 23,000, the majority, it is said, being engaged in direct competition with the railways.

An Informative Publication.

The latest issue of the " A.D.C. Gazette," a magazine recording matters of interest, principally to users of Associated Daimler vehicles, which is published by the Associated Daimler Co., Ltd., is somewhat larger than the preceding issues, for the reason that the editions for September and October are incorporated in the one publication. This course has been adopted so that it will be possible to publish earlier in the month in future. The current issue contains a number of interesting articles, amongst them being "The Economics of Weight Reduction," "Costing Accounts for Motor Vehicles." "Things Worth Knowing About the Post Office," "Tendencies in the Design of Omnibus Interiors," as well as many other useful items.

Bus Projects in Tripoli.

A company has lately been formed with the title La Societa Italiana Trasporti Automobilistiel to organize motorbus services in Tripoli and other parts of Northern Africa over an area of about 1,000 miles. It is stated that the Fiat Co., of Turin, is interested in the new undertaking.
