DURING January, the Road TranSport Executive acquired a further 15 road transport undertakings, of 'which three were holding companies—George Baker and Sons, Ltd., Hampton Park Works, Southampton, Tillings Transport (B.T.C.), Ltd., Searles Road, New Kent Road, London, SET, and G. and B. Watson, Ltd., Inham's Road, Whittlesty, near Peterborough.

Tuckers Transport, The Heath, Cardiff; C. A. Wells, Ltd., 260, Cambridge Heath Road, London, E.2; and Greenwoods Transport (B.T.C.), Ltd., WernhIcy Street, Gainsborough, Lincs.

Since this list was published, 1-landscomb.e (Transport), Ltd., Tarporley, Chester, and Liverpool, which has 17 vehicles, has been voluntarily acquired. Compulsory acquisition has also been applied to Messrs. Robin Hood Transport, Nottingham, who have 60 vehicles, and Sutcliffe Bros. (Road Tranport), Ltd., Leicester, with 17 vehicles. Valuations and negotia'Lions in these three cases were carried out by Mr. K. Firth Butterfield.
