They successfully lobbied for €5.2m from the European Commission to open five secure truckstops across the EU with matched funding from the private sector. The five are: • Ashford, UK • Valenciennes, France • Wornilz and Uhrsleben, Germany • Liege, Belgium Ashford used its funding to upgrade security, including new CCTV systems to help security staff. A website linked to SETPOS, www.truckinforrn.eu, enables drivers to book parking spaces in advance, claiming links to 2,500 parking areas in 40 countries.
