THE haulage industry could be turning the corner to better times, according to Aberdeen Road Transport Instruction Centre.

After two years of depression, the past three or four weeks had seen a marked increase in demand for training. said a spokesman this week.

Demand had increased to the point where a trainee had to wait seven instead of three to four weeks, said ARTIC manager Mr Edwin Cope. "This demand is a very healthy sign for the road haulage industry, which is generally regarded as a very good economic indicator."

Another Class 1 hgv might be added to the Ardersier branch, depending on demand from the oil platform construction yards.
