Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Gibb Grace • B. L. Dell, making his first appearance in an LDoY round at Portsmouth on Saturday, put up an excellent show and was declared overall winner. Driving a Ford artic for NCL in Class F he incurred only 226 penalty points to beat last year's winner in that class, Alf Burtonshaw, of Shell-Mex and BP Ltd, who had been well in the running until he gave away 100 points when touching a barrier on the first manoeuvrability test.

Class C. with 16 entries, was the most' popular event and it was won with a very low score of 156 by J. Hibberd: Saturday's win helped to make up for his last year's attempt in which he fluffed the final section when well set to take the class. Mr Hibberd also won a trophy for the best performance on the set questions section-his score of 60 much better than average. I asked him if he had studied the Highway Code in anticipation; he had, but sometime previously in preparation for his hgv licence. Mr Hibberd also won a trophy for the best Leyland driver: his 1964 AEC Marshall has no power-steering but he has driven it from new and covered some 35000 miles with it in that time, so obviously practice makes perfect.

Class H produced beautifully turned-out outfits from the oil companies and 1 felt that surely one of them must win. However, the parking test gave them all trouble except from G. Dibden (Esso) and the last competitor, T. Rogers, driving for Carryfast Ltd, who made a very neat job of the parking and beat Mr Dibden into first place.
