Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Will the special authorization apply where a vehicle is plated at 16 tons g.v.w. but exceeds 5 tons unladen?

Am I right in assuming that no special authorization is required when a vehicle is plated at 16 tons g.v.w. and yet exceeds 5 tons unladen?

AUnladen weight remains a factor in the

new licensing system only until a vehicle is plated; thereafter it is only the plated weight which becomes the factor. Therefore in the case of special authorizations, a vehicle not exceeding 16 tons gross will not require special authorization. If it had an unladen weight of more than 5 tons. it would be the plated weight in which the Licensing Authority was interested.
