appliance recently delivered to the Near East by Merryweather and Sons, Ltd.. has a five-section turntable ladder which can be extended to its full limit of 125' ft. from ground level in 30 seconds.The chassis of the tender is a Merryweather-A.E.C., powered by a six-cylindered petrol engine which develops a maximum of 175 b.h.p. An interesting feature of this Merryweather turntable ladder is that the operator stands on a platform which revolves with the ladder so that the controls are always conveniently placed. A telephone installation enabled the operator to keep in touch with the man at the head of the ladder.
