MRH. G. STARLET, F.I.M.1., director of the Champion Sparking Plug Co., Ltd„Feltham, was announced in our issue of last week as having been awarded the C.B.E. This was in connection with extensive work done during the war on behalf of the Air Ministry and MAP, in introducing methods of safeguarding war stores and equipment, in particular. the protective-proofing of the stores for the Ear Eastern theatre. He was chairman of the original Army CouncilCommittee set up after the
African Campaign to deal with this vital matter of protecting war stores, and the Starley Report, which resulted, was accepted not only by the Services generally, but also by the majority of engine makers in this country. As chairman of the Anglo-American Services Exhibition Committee, Mr. Starley organized the Packaging Exhibition. which was seen by thousands of Services' personnel during, 1945, and which proved of such great help to industrialists.
