OPERATORS OWED thousands of pounds by a Scottish freight forwarder are seeking legal advice in an effort to claw back their cash.

Lancashire-based Meek Distribution has already launched legal proceedings against Point 2 Point Logistics after the Stonehouse based owner,Alex Turnbull, allegedly reneged on an agreement to settle its bill.

Andrew Best.commercial manager for another transport firm, Skelmersdale-based Ken Abram, confirms his company is also owed £6,500 for work carried out in Sep tember. Despite repeated requests Point 2 Point has still not paid up although terms were agreed and weekly payments promised.

"[Turnbull] sent a cheque for £1,500 a month ago," says Best. "It bounced twice then cleared on the third attempt. He now owes us £5,137.50. We will be issuing legal proceedings this week."

Carl DodmanTransport is allegedly owed £14.000. but company associate Phil Clegg says he is confident he will recover the money.

"Twill have it somehow. He must be aware of what will happen ...he can't just get away with it," he says.

Meek Distribution boss Andy Meek, confirms his firm is owed a "substantial amount". He says: "Payment terms were weed:These didn't materialise so legal proceedings are continuing," There is also a dispute between Lines-based Sharkey Transport and Turnbull over work carried out shortly before Point 2 Point became a limited company. However. Turnbull denies he is in financial difficulty. His solicitor, Kenneth Greener, says payment terms have been agreed with both Meek Distribution and Ken Abram.

Greener adds that Carl Dodman Transport has been paid in full. Any sums claimed by it are in dispute and will be defended.

He also maintains that Turnbull is in dispute with Sharkey Transport over the amount owed due to an insurance claim.
