British Car Auctions is expanding its nationwide operation with a major new site in Bedford that sells from vans to top-weight tractors.

British Car Auctions has finalised the sales strategy for its purpose-built 'super-centre' at Bedford which opens next month.

The £10m. 25-acre site by BCA to be the largest UK auction centre to be built in the past decade— will sell light CVs every Monday with a monthly HGV auction kicking off next January.

Auction halls

Facilities will include two auction halls and an HGV area with room for 120 vehicles; the site will create 100johs.

BCA is setting up the super-centre site to supply the wealth of building and haulage companies in the area. Several manufacturers are involved and the Royal Mail will use the site to dispose of its vehicles. Other customers intending to use the site include BCA stalwarts from the contract-hire and leasing sector like Lex Vehicle Leasing and Lloyds TSB Autolease.

Customer affairs directorTom Madden says many of the company's customers have visited the site during construction:"The verdict from our customers is that the Bedford is going to be a hot ticket when it opens for business.

-The combination of the superb facilities and easy access from the Nil will make it good for buyers and sellers alike." • • Bedford is one of 16 BCA sites across the country. Adding HGVs to the list will make it the fifth BCA site to auction all types of CV, along with Belle Vise, Glasgow, Measham and Newport.
