Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

An Interesting Problem We Invite Solutions and Offer a Prize.

The members of a party of young A.S.C. officers, with a few others who are still civilians, the other evening were discussing the remarkable part that the motor vehicle is playing in the present operations on the Continent, and the question was raised by one of those present as to what would be the most effective and quickest method of disabling a petrol-propelled three-tonner of normal type so effectually that it could he abandoned to the enemy with the knowledge that it could not be turned to account without very extensive repair.

The discussion became a very interesting one. In view of its topical nature, to say nothing of the possibility that suggestions may be forthcoming which could be of use to our military friends—although we trust the occasion to put such means into operation may not arise—we invite our readers to make suggestions as to the best means to effect such disablement.

We are indeed engaged in a most unusual task when we go to the length of asking for advice as to the best

methods effectively to smash up a service machine. Be that as it may, the question propounded is by no means devoid of interest, and we shall be pleased to Present to the writer of the short letter, which, in the Editor's opinion, suggests the best method to accomplish the object TR view, in the least possible time and with the least effort, a small pocket case of tools suit

able for use on active service. Letters should be marked " DisABLEmENT," and addressed to the Editor, to arrive here not later than Saturday, the 12th inst. Send in your letters, then, with a short considered answer to the following question :— If you were in charge of an Army petrol motor wagon, and it became necessary for you to abandon it at a few moments notice, how would you proceed so to put it out of action as most effectively to render it useless as a capture by the enemy, the use of firearms or explosives for destruction of or damage to any part of the chassis not being taken into account ?
