in particularly, the article marked "Big truck check nabs foreigners" (Commercial Motor 15-21 September) we were rather concerned and would like to point out that it is

actually a criminal offence to back-date insurance cover and we feel that you have seriously misled your readers by printing this statement.

It is a requirement under the Road Traffic Act that you must be in possession of a valid certificate of motor insurance or a covering note and we were somewhat surprised when the police took no action against this gentlemen.
