Laurie Dealer has been informed that seagulls are terrors.ing employees and businesses on the Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle.

According to the News & Star newspaper: "Angry seagulls are regularly attacking workers... leaving some so afraid that they will no longer risk walking between buildings."

Employees at Ciceley Commercials and Graham (Commercials) have been targeted.

The seagulls, says the report. are flocking to the Kingstown estate in growing numbers to nest on roofs, and are subsequently divebombing people they see as a threat to their rest. What is more, the trucks and vans are being covered in ''seagul• muck-.

Ian Wheatorott, branch manager at Ciceley Commercials, says he has been dive-bombed on numerous occasions.

And Stuart Graham, director of Graham (Commercials), says because of the threat of dive-bombing as the birds protect their newly hatched chicks, people are driving between buildings.

To solve the problem, some businesses have resorted to hiring a bird of prey expert, who has flown a hawk in the area to scare off toe seagulls, while others have used antiseagull sirens.
