THE BACKERS OF a major new logistics site in Hampshire are celebrating after the High Court threw out a last-ditch hid to block the development.

Protesters from pressure group SPLAT (Stop Pyestock b Lot Act Today) had hoped the High Court would overturn the decision taken by John Denham, the former Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, to give the goahead for the Hartland Park development at Pyestock, near Fleet. Hampshire.

The propsed 1.3 million ft= development will convert the brownfield site, a former MoD testing

facility, into a business and logistics park creating up to 1 kW jobs.

The development is a joint project between Prupim, part of Prudential and logistics park specialists ProLogis.

Martin Towns, director of investment management for Prupim, explains: "We now look forward to getting on with delivering the project, providing new distribution space for some of the UK's leading companies."

Up to 10 buildings will he available on the new site, and Prupim says it is in negotiations with a number of potential occupiers.

Tesco has previously been linked with the site.
