Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I attended the recent DSA Conference on the new Driver CPC and was concerned about the courses that will be approved for periodic training.

It appears that ADR training will not be approved for periodic training, despite the fact that it is a vital part of a dangerous goods driver's knowledge.

If I submitted a training course on the safe handling and use of a lorry loader, there is a good chance that the course would be approved for periodic training.

Both of these are key for drivers to carry out their jobs safely, but only one would be approved.

The explanation was that ADR is a legal requirement and would, therefore, not be applicable for periodic training. A tanker driver could not use his five-yearly refresher training as part of his periodic training.

In A Guide To Periodic Training, it says: "Periodic training shall consist of training to ensure holders of a CPC as referred to in Article 6 and the driver's referred to in Article 4 to update the knowledge which is essential for their work." Surely this must apply to ADR training?
