SAVIEM'S SM280 tractor, fitted with a turbocharged MAN engine developing 212kW (285 bhp to SAE rating) will be available on the UK market from mid1975. This move — forecast n CAllast September was -evealed by Saviem's presilent, M. Bernard VernierF'ailliez at the company's Club of Four announcement in Cannes this week (see page 24).
M. Vernier-Pailliez denied that Berliet engines would replace the existing MAN unit at the heavy end of the Saviem range. The SM280 will augment, not replace, the SM32-240 in this country.
