• After negotiations lasting over two years an amalgamation has finally been arranged between the Motor and Cycle Trades Benevolent Fund and the Agricultural Engineering and Allied Trades Benevolent Association. As from January 1 Ben general secretary Colin Cudlipp will be assisted by David Prescott, formerly assistant secretary of the Railway Convalescent Homes.
On February 1 Ben takes possession of Birch Hill, Norham, near Berwick-onTweed, which will be open in the spring as a holiday and convalescent home for the motor, cycle and agricultural and allied industries.
