• Plans to build a new passenger-vehicle ferry for the Stranraer-Larne service at a cost of more than £2m have been submitted for Ministry of Transport approval by the British Railways Board.
The proposed ferry would be a sister ship to the Antrim Princess, with capacity for 50 large commercial vehicles (or 155 cars) and would be introduced into service in 1970.
