MEGOTIATIONS, we learn, have I. "been completed for the merging of the two Manchester traffic pools—the Manchester Imports Control Transport, and the Manchester Long-distance Road Transport Pool. The place will be taken by the Manchester Control Transport (Road) Pool, Ltd., as from January 1.
At the time of writing the precise status has not been settled, but it has been suggested that it should, be a company limited by guarantee and governed by a committee of management. The two pools functioned in a complementary capacity, one specializing in short-haul traffic and the other in distance work, As the term " short haul " was given a rather elastic interpretation some overlapping of radii occurred, This will be obviated by the new arrangements.
The .company will, we understand, limit_ its interest to pool traffic and will not compete for loads which pass through the ordinary commercial channels. Profits will be limited to the sum of money necessaty to operate the company successfully.
