POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses after a van driver assaulted a motorist as he sat in traffic in Slough.

The incident happened at around (115pm on 2 February A man driving a white Peugeot 205 was stopped at a red traffic light in Ragstone Road, Chalvey. A white Ford transit van then overtook the queue of cars on the wrong side of the road,but was forced to cut back into the queue. As it did, the van collided with the Peugeot, causing minor damage to bothvehicles.The van driver got out of his vehicle and started to punch the driver.

When the traffic lights turned green, the driver was pursued by the van. He turned into Ellis Avenue, only to find himself in a culde-sac. The van driver dragged him out of his car and continued to punch him He ran away and called the police, but when he returned to his car, all the windows had been smashed and the van driver was nowhere to be seen.

The van driver is described as a white male,in his 40s, about 6ft tall, well built, with short fair hair. He spoke with an English accent and wore a cream jumper and jeans.

DC Ian Bradshaw of Slough CID said: "This was a serious incident in which an innocent motorist was subjected to two vicious and completely unprovoked assaults, as well as criminal damage to his car. There was a lot of traffic in the area at the time and we feel sure there must have been a number of witnesses."
