Some further particulars are now available regarding the tunnels, of which two are to be built—one reserved for vehicles of all kinds and the other for pedestrians and cyclists—under the River Scheldt, between Antwerp and Hoboken. The contract amounts to approximately £2,000,000.

The vehicular tunnel, which will be driven at a depth of 32 ft. to 40 ft. under the bed of the river, will be just over 11 mile long, with a diameter of 29 ft. 7 ins, and a road width of 22 ft.

United Automobile Services, Ltd., has, it is stated, secured a controlling interest in Smith's Safeway Services, Ltd., of Middlesbrough.
