The Ministry of Transport has recently issued a return giving particulars of the number of mechanically propelled road vehicles for which licences were current at any time during the quarter ended September 30th last. The total number was 2,287,325, as compared with 2,195,712 during the corresponding period of 1929. Included in the 1930 total are 348,441 goods vehicles and 101,130 hackney vehicles, the comparable totals for the previous year being 329,794 and 97,997.
