• Maintenance problems have led to the licence held by William and Anne Brown, trading as Captain Cargo, of Motherwell, being cut from five vehicles and two trailers to two vehicles at an Edinburgh disciplinary inquiry. And Scottish licensing Authority Michael Betts suspended the licence until new vehicles had been nominated to be specified on the licence.
Evidence was given about a series of prohibition notices placed on the partners' existing vehicles.
William Brown told the LA it was the intention to operate two new vehicles and they would be inspected and maintained every six weeks by Lothian Trucks.
Betts said he also required the introduction of a drivers daily "nil" defect reporting system.
The suspension of the licence was lifted three days after the hearing following an application by the partners to remove the existing vehicles from the licence and to specify one new vehicle.
