REGARDING the article on page 913 of your issue of July 27 relative to noise, can you explain why the regulations relative to effective ,silencers have been rescinded?
Nowadays a motor cyclist is allowed to roar around the country with ear-splitting cracks, whereas years ago I was fined 10s. plus costs for an " insufficient " silencer on a 350 c.c. Triumph, which in comparison with today's " noises " was silent.
