Extraordinary Traffic.---The draft letter to be sent to mem bers with reference to the single-wheel tracks of vehicles was submitted and finally approved as foliows :—" At a recent conference on Extraordinary Traffic, it was suggested that all members should be advised that a large amount of road damage was caused by motor vehicles always using the same wheel tracks on any particular section of road. It was felt that it would be possible to reduce the risk of claims very considerably if drivers made a point of using the whole surface instead of comining themselves to one track. The committee therefore ventures to ask you to issue special instructions to your drivers, in cases where they make repeated journeys over any section of road, that they should take a fresh track every journey. A notice should be given to each driver on this point and his attention drawn to the fact that he can so steer his vehicle that he will roll the whole surface of the road to an uniform smoothness, whereas if he always kept it on the same track he must ultimately leave a mark, if nothing worse." The list of questions with reference to claims for extraordinary traffic damage was considered and approved, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Mackenzie and Mr. Humphreys for their assistance in the matter.
